Buque de Comando y Apoyo Clase Absalon (Dinamarca)


he Absalon class vessels are supported by the Royal Danish Navy. The class forms two ships built by Odense Steel Shipyard, dumped in 2005 and allocated in 2007. The class is based on a design similar to the frigate, but built with an internal multipurpose deck (soft cover) and a stern ramp for vehicles .

Boats can serve as a command platform for a staff of 75 people (naval staff or set) with a command center and containerized transportation control and as a base for a landing force the size of a company of 200 men vehicles.
Alternatively, the flexible cover can be used for mine laying operations with a capacity of 300 mines, or be equipped for removal operations, also to launch and retrieve detectors and mine clearance teams through a gantry, with stern ramp, which is also used for launching and recovery of fast landing craft.

In addition, the flexible cover can house a container hospital or simply transporting a number of standard ISO containers or about 55 vehicles, including up to 7 MBT. The boats carry two LCPs (Storebro SB90E), two rigid hull inflatable boats and two medium helicopters.


he standard armament of the Absalon class can be supplemented by using StanFlex mission modules. A special weapons cover is designed with five module slots StanFlex (missile).

The ships are named after the twelfth century Danish archbishop Absalon and his brother Esbern Snare.
